First of all, what is music?
" Music speaks what cannot be expressed soothes
the mind & gives it rest heals the heart
& makes it whole flows from heaven to the soul."
Music is an art form, and cultural activity, whose medium is sound.
-pitch which governs melody and harmony
-rhythm and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation
-dynamics (loudness and softness)
-sonic qualities of timbre and texture which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound.
Those are just the definition of music. What I really want to share is the symbols on a music sheet.
- Clef:
used to indicate the pitch of written notes. There are two basic clefs that we should know :
- Bar:
a segment of time corresponding to a specific number of beats in which each beat is represented by a particular note value and the boundaries of the bar.
- Time Signature:
a measure indicate how many beats in each bar, such as 4/4 , 3/4 , 9/8 and so on.
Here is a part where the beats made of.
- Semibreve:
- Minim:
half note
- Crotchet:
quarter-note
- Quaver:
One more thing i want to share, an illustration made by musician on the internet that i found interesting and quite understandable for you guys.
